AOTA HOLIDAY Store - FULL Prospectus


The 2021 Affair of the Arts will be a month-long pop-up store for a more COVID safe experience. This year, visitors can shop from AOTA artists on the historic Woodstock Square in the Old Courthouse Arts Center.  

Store Dates: November 12 - December 12 Friday, Saturday & Sunday each week from 12:00pm - 5:00 pm.

Things to know as you submit:

– Submission fee is $25.
-  Deadline to submit is Friday, Oct 29, 2021.
– Please submit a separate jury fee and application for each fine art or craft category to be considered.
– Artists who participate in the show contribute $50 for their space. This covers both November & December.
- Artist retail space is the width of a 6 ft or 8 ft table. If not using a table the depth is approx. 2.5 - 3 feet wide.
- If you have wall pieces, know that we are able to utilize the wall space using the hanging system or with nails (walls vary)
- The gallery will be staffed, so artists do not have to be at the gallery to sell work. There will be an "opening" event, date TBA.
- Sales are handled by the gallery & will reflect a 25% commission to cover overhead costs, so price accordingly!
- Artists my request to use a 6 ft gallery table for an additional $10. (tables are limited)
- If the show is able to be extended through the end of 2021, artists will have the option to keep their work in the gallery longer if they wish. (No additional space cost for this.)

ELIGIBILITY

All artwork must be original, fine quality, and totally conceived and created by the artist. No mass-produced items will be accepted. Artists may sell reproductions of their own work, but should have original work for sale as well. (Reproductive arts, such as photography and printmaking, are considered originals if the artist created the image.)  The store includes both Fine Art and Artisan work.

VENUE

Old Courthouse Arts Center: 101 N Johnson St, Woodstock, IL
Artists will need to provide tables, portable screens/walls or other display systems for present their work for sale. (Use of portable walls are optional & up to the artist’s discretion. A limited number of tables may be available for rent, if requested at application.)
Artists who participate in the show contribute $50 for their space. This covers both November & December. If the show is able to be extended through the end of 2021, artists will have the option to keep their work in the gallery longer if they wish. (No additional space cost for this.)
Please note that the Old Courthouse Arts Center is not handicap-accessible at this time.

SET UP & TAKE DOWN

Artists may set up Monday, Nov 8 from 10:00am - 2:00 pm or Tuesday, Nov 8 from 4:00 - 8:00 pm.
Pick up is Monday Dec 13 from 4:00-8:00 pm.

SALES & TAX

The gallery handles sales. There is a 25% commission to cover staffing & operational costs. Tax for Woodstock is 8%. Artists should not include tax in their sales price.
Each item needs to be clearly priced with the artist’s name/initials on the tag, so we can disperse funds from sales accordingly!

LIABILITY

Affair of the Arts (Joe and Kathleen Isacson), and The Old Courthouse Arts Center/Northwest Area Arts Council are not liable for any loss, theft, damage or deterioration of artwork before, during, or after the show. By submitting to AOTA, you are agreeing to this.
  • Participating artists assume responsibility for their property and their personal safety.
  • Insurance coverage for Artists’ property is the responsibility of the Artist.
  • Artists are responsible for adhering to copyright laws that may pertain to their work.


MEDIA RELEASE
Joe + Kathleen Isacson, Affair of the Arts & The Old Courthouse Arts Center/NAAC may use Artist’s Name, biographical information as submitted by the artist, and images of their artwork (or photos the artist and/or booth) for the sole purpose of promoting Affair of the Arts and to promote the artists and their work. We promote you because we care about you and your sales!
This information will be used for online and print publications, social and broadcast media, and marketing materials including postcards and flyers. Artists release Affair of the Arts from any liability resulting from the use of this information.  Photos of Affair of the Arts events (that may include the artist and/or artwork) may be used to promote current and future shows.

FEES

Jury and space fees are used to support the promotion and operation of this event, and therefore are non-refundable. Jury Fee is $25. Deadline to submit is Oct 29, 2021
Artist Notifications will be made by midnight, Nov 2, 2021.
